Maleny Credit Union celebrates 30 years!

February 14, 2014 in Latest News

It’s a pleasure to announce that Maleny Credit Union is 30 years old this year!!

The big day finally arrived at 10am on Monday 10September, 1984.  Alan Webster officially turned the key and quoted “I now declare the Maleny and District Community Credit Union open for business”.   A week later memberships had doubled and within a month of opening deposits topped $100,000 as support for Maleny’s credit union continued and it has not stopped.

To celebrate this milestone we are hosting four major events during the year with the first being a celebration of our 30 years with a reunion of old and new members, staff and directors as well as other people from the community being held on Friday 28th February from 6.00pm in our front garden.

The RSVP’s are rolling in and I’m starting to think …. Are we going to have enough room!  This is a good problem to have, that people want to come and celebrate with us.

We launched our year with a gallery of photos in our front foyer with lots of memories for our members and people within the community. This has been well received with people popping in and checking out the old photos.  We have also had a timeline completed which takes up a wall and is a great history lesson.

It’s amazing the stories we are starting to hear from members coming in and telling us about the good old days.  Hope to see you there. We would really appreciate if you could RSVP if you are coming so we cater accordingly.
